ISF Scholarships

ISF provides three types of scholarships. These are:

  • ISF Undergraduate Scholarships
  • Dr. Ali Jarrahi Merit Scholarship
  • Excellence in Community Service Scholarship

ISF Undergraduate Scholarships

The Iranian Scholarship Foundation's undergraduate award is one of the most remunerative scholarships available to Iranian-American students in America.

The award can be as high as $10,000 per year, for up to four years*.

To be eligible for consideration, the applying student must:

1- Be enrolled or accepted at a four-year accredited American University
2- Be in need of financial assistance
3- Possess and maintain a GPA of 3.5 or higher
4- Have participated in community service
5- Provide two letters of recommendation; one from a teacher and one from an organization for which student has performed community service
6- Write a 750-1000 words essay about his/her dreams and aspirations
7- Be of Iranian descent
8- Have a minimum SAT score of 1250 for Math & Verbal (if applying as a high school student)
9-The deadline for mailing your application for 2008-09 has past.

*Students who are awarded a scholarship must perform at least 100 hours of community service and maintain a GPA of 3.5 in order to be eligible for the following year's scholarship.

Dr. Ali Jarrahi Merit Scholarship

In the Fall of 2007 ISF received a large amount of funds donated to its endowment fund by Dr. Ali Jarrahi of North Carolina. Dr. Ali Jarrahi requested that the interest received from his endowment donation be used to provide two Merit scholarships to two top Iranian American students in the US. The principal of his donation to the ISF endowment can not be spend or touched. Hence the ISF Board of Trustees voted to name the ISF Merit Scholarship the "Dr. Ali Jarrahi Merit Scholarship". ISF will award two Merit Scholarships to two high school students with outstanding academic records, who are entering one of the top 10 universities in the US. This scholarship is not need based. It is similar to the National Merit Scholarships in amount ($2500 or less). For the 2008-09 year the Dr. Ali Jarrahi Merit Scholarship will award $2,000 to each recipient.

This scholarship is only open to High School students entry a 4 year university in the US.

To be eligible for consideration, the applying student must:

1- Be accepted at one of the top American Universities
2- Possess a GPA of 4.0 or higher
3- Have a portfolio of community service
4- Provide two letters of recommendation; one from a teacher and one from an organization for which student has performed community work
5- Write a 750-1000 words essay about his/her dreams and aspirations
6- Be of Iranian descent
7- Have a minimum SAT score of 2300
8-The deadline for mailing your application for 2008-09 has past.

*Students who are awarded a scholarship must perform at least 100 hours of community service and maintain a GPA of 3.5 in order to be eligible for the following year's scholarship.

 

2008 Excellence in Community Service Scholarship

Each year ISF will award an Excellence in Community Service Scholarship to one student with an outstanding record of community service. The student must have a proven record of community service and have maintained a GPA of 3.5 or better.

To be eligible for consideration, the applying student must:

1- Be enrolled or accepted at a four-year accredited American University
2- Possess and maintain a GPA of 3.5 or higher
3- Have a portfolio of community service
5- Provide three letters of recommendation; one from a teacher and two from organizations for which the student has performed community work
6- Write a 750-1000 words essay about his/her dreams and aspirations
7- Be of Iranian descent
8- Have a minimum SAT score of 1850 (if applying as a high school student)

The Value of this Scholarship is $3,000.
